Not a clinician? Find resources

About Us

Dementia Care California was developed by the Alzheimer’s Disease Program at the California Department of Public Health in partnership with geriatrics and dementia experts at the University of California, San Francisco, with a team led by Dr. Anna Chodos

The California Alzheimer’s Disease Centers and Caregiver Resource Centers helped shape the content, and they are invaluable resources for all of us in the state.  CDPH has already created tools for dementia assessment and management, such as the CDPH ACCT-AD toolkit, and these were the starting places for the resources you see on this site.  We also worked with Dementia Care Aware to build on the work they have done on early detection.

Watch this short video about the site to help you find your way around.

For health care providers:

The goal of this website is to provide easily navigable, usable information and tools for dementia screening and detection, diagnostic evaluation, and clinical care. The content is not entirely specific to California but some resources will be more specific to our state. For any clinician in any state, it will be useful for clinical management, for example as you are seeing a patient to show you the steps in a dementia assessment or to help you have the tools you need at your fingertips. There are also resources you can use to give to patients and caregivers to learn more about dementia or connect with resources in California.

There are also ways to get expert advice about a clinical question through our “Ask an expert” page.

For people living with dementia and caregivers

If you are a person living with dementia or a caregiver, there are resources that are for you, too.  Check out our Resources page and filter under the “Audience” section for resources targeted to you.
